Remaining global reserves will be complex and challenging to exploit, and will require creative approaches. In the petroleum industry, geologists primarily interpret seismic and well data to formulate ideas about where to locate hydrocarbons and increase productivity, but they must also take a forensic approach to integrating additional diverse types of data in support of their analysis. They work closely with team members from other disciplines, including engineers and economists, in order to help the company make the best decisions.The Early Career Development program for our new hire geoscientists creates an environment that encourages employees to develop their capabilities with the expectation that they will build long-term careers and add value to ConocoPhillips. Your Geoscience interpretation skill development will be accelerated during the first two years through a combination of formal training and on the job experiences related to regional evaluation, prospect generation, field development, operations and/or advanced technologies. The complexities of exploration and field development require building an understanding of the fundamentals of geology and geophysics and as well as bringing curiosity, critical thinking and integration skills into the solution. Responsibilities:Typical duties of a new Geoscientist may include: Predicting rock and fluid properties from interpreting and synthesizing seismic data, well data, geologic history, analogs, geochemical and pressure data, etc. Applying geoscience interpretations to predict the chance of success and potential size of projects ranging from frontier exploration to field development Guiding programs such as drilling, seismic acquisition and processing Partnering with other disciplines within the company to provide geoscience input Representing the company while working with partners and government representatives B
